    St. Luke's is a Christian family, welcoming to all seekers. We provide inspiration through worship and spiritual practice, encourging people to walk their faith outside the walls of our church.

  • September Announcements
    1. St. Luke’s Ministries: Are you interested in getting more involved at St. Luke’s? Here are some opportunities we invite you to consider along with the name of the person to contract.
    • Intercessory Prayer: During Communion, privately hear the concerns of individuals and then pray on their behalf (Contact: Father Mac)
    • Lay Readers and Servers: During worship, read scripture, lead Prayers of the People, distribute communion (Contact: Deacon Susan or Father Mac)
    • Altar Guild: Prepare and clear the altar for worship (Contact: Barbara Maxfield)
    • Sunday School: Assist with the religious formation of young people (Contact: Millie Pease)
    • Hospitality: Provide refreshments for our informal gatherings after worship (Contact: Millie Pease)
    • Bell Ringing: Before worship ‘bell ringing’ to announce our service and invite the community. This is a new ministry. (Contact: Helen Yost)
    1. Friendship Packets for Homeless Outreach: During the month of September, please help us collect 200 bars of soap for ‘Friendship Packets’ that will be used for homeless outreach throughout Napa County. Organized by our sisters and brothers at Grace Church in St. Helena, these packets will include socks and a razor provided by the members of Grace Church. They will be given to Abode Services, the non-profit Napa County has contracted to do the important work of reaching out to the un-housed to provide services like meals and temporary housing with the ultimate goal of arranging permanent housing. Wendi Moore, the Volunteer Coordinator at ABODE will be with us on September 29th to share a few words about their efforts.
    2. Sacred Ground, a spiritual practice focused on faith and race: Do you hunger for some deep and possibly transformative conversations about faith and race? Both St. Luke’s and Grace Church will be offering Sacred Ground, a 10 session, film based dialogue series developed by the national church. You are invited to attend an information meeting on Sunday, September 22nd at Grace Church from 4-6:00 p.m. Please see more detailed information about the series in a letter from our deacon. Copies on green colored paper can be found on the table at the church entrance.
    3. International Day of Peace Event: Central American Refugee Crisis:Why are thousands of people leaving the northern triangle of Central America? What is happening on our borders? How can we Help? Get answers and look toward solutions at this evening with: Guila McPherson, Director of Advocacy, Jesuit Refugee Services, USA & Noah Bullock, Executive Director of Cristosal. The evening is co-sponsored by Grace Episcopal Church and St. Helena Catholic Church on behalf od JRS & Cristosal. This free event will include light refreshments and childcare will be provided. Please register on line at eventbrite.com “Central American Refugee Crisis”, September 21st.
    4. Remembrance Service for Father Tim Greene: Three summers ago, Father Tim Greene, member of St. Luke’s and resident at the Yountville Veterans’ Home passed away. As we did last year, we will gather for a Remembrance Service at the Veterans’ Home Interfaith Chapel on Wednesday, September 25th at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Amy Denney-Zuniga will preside at the service and attendees will be invited to share memories of Father Tim. After the service, we will take flowers to Father Tim’s grave and then all who wish to join us are invited to a no-host lunch at the Lakeside Grill. Please let Deacon Susan know if you plan to attend.
    5. Church Directory and Emergency Contact Update: It is time to update our Directory and confidential ‘Emergency Contacts’. Please complete a Current Contact form and return it to the folder marked “Directory and Emergency Contacts” on the table at the church entrance. A new Directory will be published October 2019.
    6. Emergency Preparedness Planning: It’s time to begin or review your Emergency Planning. This is both a service to our community and ourselves. Please take a packet of information from the folder marked “Emergency Planning” on the table at the church entrance.
    7. Mission Committee: Elected lay leaders meet with our clergy every month on the 3rd Sunday. The Committee functions as the church administrative team, providing oversight of church finances, adherence to church practices and policies, recommends ministry proposals and organizes repairs and improvements to our facilities.
